At Simpl we want to make a difference to our people’s lives. So we have a range of interesting benefits that you can tailor to enhance your wellbeing.

Effect

Effect is the name of our wellbeing program. It is specifically designed to help take care of our people. Effect is always the brand behind the fun stuff and is split into 4 quadrants (mental, physical, community, environmental) to give you options that best suit your needs.

Mental – We have a few ways to keep your mind sharp like finance and mortgage seminars.

Physical – We can help you get started on a healthier path, like taking part in our Steps Pedometer Challenge or our mini Olympics!

Cultural - We love that we have so many different people from across the world, so we support learning more about different cultures and cultural activities. We have cultural shared lunches to get a taste of all our cultures.

Community - We try to support the environment and our community, even in small ways like recycling and looking after our desk plants. We also support charity days such as Surf Life Saving Jandal Day, The Hearing House Loud Shirt Day and the SPCA Cupcake Day. We also encourage our staff to donate blood if you would like to.

Activa

At Simpl we believe that everyone has different wellbeing needs. Simpl invests in your wellbeing by contributing $400 (tax free!) per year into your activa account. We also award extra activa dollars for people who can go the extra mile. Your activa card works like an EFTPOS card, and purchases are paid for from your activa account and are currently accepted at participating GPs, medical specialists, pharmacies, dentists, physiotherapists, gyms, health and sports retailers, health food retailers, day spas and many kinds of therapists.

Awards

It’s important for all of us to take a moment every now and again to recognise each other’s hard work and achievements. At Simpl we have a number of ways to acknowledge our shining stars:

  • The Stand out award – Stop trying to fit in when you were born to stand out
    This a quarterly award is for Simplers who stand out amongst the crowd!
  • The Wot Wot Award – For those moments when you wish you didn’t stand out from the crowd
    The WotWot award is there to capture those 'what the' moments that we all have! There is one main criteria for this award... the accompanied story must make us laugh

Discovery Channel

The Discovery Channel, our Learning and Development program is high on the priority list around here. The Discovery Channel is in place to remove obstacles to allow our great people to do great work. We want to keep our people challenged and up to the play in all areas of their specialities. Everyone is at a different phase in their learning and we want ways to support this, such as education assistance and mentoring and more (below)

NZCS & IT Certified Professional (ITCP)

In 2009, we became a professional partner of the New Zealand Computer Society (NZCS) which provides Simpler’s the opportunity to become a member of the NZCS. Simpl funds your membership, as well as supports you to get your ITCP certification. ITCP is the new “gold standard” professional certification. If the NZCS doesn’t apply to you, we can talk about other professional memberships that relate to your area of expertise!

Technical Skills Benchmarking

It’s hard to describe your technical skills outside of project work, so we enlisted Information Knowledge Management (IKM) to give us that objective perspective. The obvious use for IKM is as part of recruitment process, but it’s not just about what you can do, it’s about what you could do! Assessing your current skills, to give an accurate picture of where you are at, can help you to switch onto our discovery channel and add it to your development plan in Sonar 6.

Performance and Goal Management

Sonar6 is our choice of tool for performance and goal management. Being web based you can use it anywhere, anytime that suits. It uses real language for real information on our people’s capabilities. We value individual and team development and have annual goal setting and reviews, unless of course you need to have a chat before then.
