Simpl selects NetIQ products to help the NHS improve protection of Patient Data
New partnership to supply solutions which support NHS organizations with the latest Information Governance Statement of Compliance measures
Simpl, a healthcare IT advisor, integrator and reseller, has forged a strategic partnership with NetIQ to deliver technology solutions to help UK healthcare organisations secure patient data and meet increased compliance requirements within tighter budget terms.
NetIQ provides software which assists organisations implement, administer and enforce the latest data security and information governance policies, such as those for patient data safety. Automation of critical processes can facilitate achievement of compliance requirements without creating additional management overheads, allowing staff to focus on clinical care.
Utilising this technology, Simpl plans to address how NHS organisations can improve their information governance. According to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), NHS organisations were responsible for almost 30 per cent of the data security breaches reported over the last two years.
The NetIQ identity and access management software will be used with a view to enhancing data security, addressing the concerns of the ICO and supporting best practices for correctly handling patient medical records.
Working with NetIQ, Simpl plans to help NHS organisations implement the Information Governance Statement of Compliance (IGSoC), which sets a minimum level of compliance against key requirements, and report on data losses and confidentiality breaches. Meeting these and other security standards set by the NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA), which handles negligence claims, can lead to a reduction in insurance premiums for healthcare organisations of up to 20 percent.
